Roots & Wings

This is a five-minute play I wrote for my Craft of Dramatic Writing class. 

Main Idea

It’s the day of Bailey’s high school graduation, and she’s convinced nothing can bring her down. That is, until Jeanette, her terminally-ill mother, reveals she won’t be attending.

Characters 

Bailey (18) - An average teenager. All she wants is to get through to Jeanette. 

Jeanette (40s) - Jeanette’s mother. All she wants is to set Bailey free.
